Honda recalls 2012 Civic because of defects in fuel line
Honda Motor Co. has announced it would recall more than 1,000 new Honda Civics in the U.S. because of defects found in the fuel line. The defect could cause fuel leak, the company said in a statement.
The recall affects 1,156 cars, a few months after Honda released its 2012 Civic earlier this spring. Fortunately, many of the units have not yet been sold so there is less concern of affected buyers.
The defective units will be repaired while on dealer lots, the company said.
The company said a manufacturing error cause the defective fuel line. However no injuries or fires have been reported related to the leaking fuel line.
Customers who bought the defective units can have them repaired at any Honda service centers for free. Honda added it would begin notifying customers of the recall on May 27 and advised them to check the company's Web site to determine if their cars need repairs.
