To revive the sagging Hong Kong pornography industry, a film maker has introduced its first ever erotic film in 3D, hoping that the digital rendition will draw more viewers to the cinemas.

Early this week the producers of the first-ever 3D pornographic film, "Sex & Zen: Extreme Ecstasy," in the Chinese territory drew hundreds of viewers and are expecting to get more in the coming days especially during the Easter holidays and in early May.

Inspired by the phenomenal Hollywood hit "Avatar" in 3D by James Cameron, Hong Kong filmmaker Christopher Sun said they are hoping to draw more Chinese and foreign tourists alike.

"What we're going to expect is that people don't take it as an erotic or any gross thing to look at," said director Christopher Sun in a report by Reuters. "Try to take it as an entertaining movie for adults."

With about $3-million in budget, the production was shot at the mountain fringes of Hong Kong and hopes to capture both Chinese and foreign tourists as audience with its screening days capturing the crucial Easter and May Day holidays.

The 3D erotic film is a period drama about a young man, a duke and royal orgies and uses slapstick comedy to make up for the occasional violence and explicit sex.
