Jobs' silhouette as the bite in the apple went viral , finding its way through Facebook and the blogosphere after his death.

The artist responsible for this visual tribute is 19-year-old Hong Kong student, Jonathan Mak . In his Tumblr account, he described himself as a self-proclaimed designer, photographer, and philosopher.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design student came up with the concept in August when Steve Jobs announced that he was stepping down as CEO of Apple, First Post reports.

The redesigned apple logo was uploaded on August 26, 2011 in his Tumblr account with a caption that simply states, "Thanks, Steve." No one took much notice of the picture, until Mak reposted it early on Thursday when the news of the death spread.

The young man feeling both scared and excited said, "Originally, I was going to put a black modified logo against a white background. It just didn't feel somber enough."

"I just wanted it to be a very quiet commemoration. It's just this quiet realisation that Apple is now missing a piece. It's just kind of implying his absence."
