Veteran actor and Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins expressed hopes that the sun and moon will be on his side that will allow him to play as Alfred Hitchcock in a film project.

Hitchcock is an English filmmaker and producer who rose to fame with his pioneering techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. Some of his early films include The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog, Psycho, Number 13, The Pleasure Garden, among others.

“[He] was a very interesting man, very strange guy, very dark man," Hopkins says according to the Associated Press.

Hopkins has publicly airs his interest on the Hitchcock project for four years now. But he said that his attachment to the project stems from a film about the making of Psycho he watched 50 years ago. The star of the Silence of the Lambs added that the film has stuck with him, reiterating according to AP that it was “the most frightening film [he has] ever seen."

British director Sacha Gervasi said Hopkins will direct the Hitchcock film.

Hopkins stars in “The Rite” which opens to theatres Friday.
