Leading apprentice Samantha Clenton is the worst out of five dislodged riders on Monday’s Taree Cup August 21 Benchmark 62 Handicap at the Taree Wingham Race Club.

Bazza’s Boy, Clenton’s mount, stumbled after fracturing a leg on their way to the home turn. Clenton sustained a broken collarbone and soft tissue injury on her back. Sporting News reports that she will be transported to Sydney Hospital on Tuesday for the surgery on Wednesday. Unfortunately, her horse Bazza’s Boy has been euthanised.

“It was an unfortunate accident,” Racing NSW’s Maurice Logue told the ABC. “However, there will be an investigation which will include an autopsy of Bazza's Boy to determine what happened and to see if there's any action that needs to be taken.”

The fall took down Jackson Murphy and mount Blinkin Rules. He is currently in John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. He has been cleared of fractures but suffers from bruising of the spleen and lungs. Nyssa Burrells and mount Casino Bride are also safe. Kaylee Kirkwood and partner Lady Lobban escaped with a cut on her leg and a few stitches. Taylor Marshall and Nonino did not have any serious injury but will no longer partake in his remaining riding activities. Finally, Travis Wolfgram sustained a concussion after his mount Can Dominante hit his face after trying to avoid the fallen horses and their riders as Racing Post reports.
