Selena Gomez can breathe easier for a little while longer, since the restraining order of her alleged stalker has been extended.

LAPD Detective Jose Viramontes tells E! News that Thomas Brodnicki is still locked up on a 5150 psychiatric hold in the county hospital. This can be done if a person is considered dangerous due to a mental disorder.

His confinement means he was unable to attend the court hearing on Wednesday to defend himself. Judge William Stewart expressed concern over his absence, saying he might have been denied his rights to due process.

"It's a basic due process right and the court isn't satisfied as he has been granted that right," Stewart says.

However, Gomez attorney Blair Berk says there was enough time provided for Brodnicki to contact the court and request for a continuance.

The restraining order requires Brodnicki to stay at least a hundred yards from Gomez, after he told his therapist that he has had conversations with God about taking the starlet's life.

"Selena Gomez and I are the holy chosen ones of God," Brodnicki claims in an interview with TMZ.

"I'm not overly concerned if I meet [Selena] in the flesh because it may be like the scripture says, 'No man has ever seen the fact of God.' Maybe us being together is too much like seeing the face of God," he adds.

He even concocted a fantasy where the two end up together.

" One of my favorite scenarios is [Selena] flies out here on March 23, 2016. We start seeing each other, and we don't even touch each other for a month," Brodnicki shares to TMZ.

The alleged stalker has a criminal history of stalking, and has travelled from Chicago to L.A. to visit Gomez at the work place three times.

Viramontes has confirmed that Gomez poses a "serious threat to Ms. Gomez."

Even Gomez's boyfriend Justin Bieber has spoken out about the issue.

"She stayed strong through it," Bieber reveals in a live chat with TMZ.

"I'm sure she is [scared], but she's got good people around her and she's staying safe," the pop superstar adds.
