'House of Cards' Actor Gets Recurring Role in 'Homeland' Season 4, Filming to Begin Soon
Corey Stoll, who played Peter Russo in Netflix's "House of Cards," is set to appear as a recurring character in "Homeland" Season 4. He will be portraying the role of a CIA Chief of Station who is stationed in Pakistan. Stoll's character is called Sandy Bachman. The reports describe Sandy as a rising star in the CIA.
Stoll appeared in the first season of "House of Cards." His character was murdered by the protagonist of the show, Frank Underwood, in Season 1.
In addition to Stoll, Laila Robins has been roped in, as well. She will be playing the role of the U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan. Laila's character is called Martha Boyd. Martha is a professional and put together, with a ship-to-ship voice and personality to match. Robins has signed "Homeland" as a series regular.
The addition of these characters may have happened because in Season 4, Carrie will be seen as an under-cover agent in a hostile country. She is back on the front lines in the war on terror. As a field operative, "Carrie is assigned to one of the most volatile and dangerous CIA stations in the Middle East," according to Deadline's report.
Meanwhile, TV Line had reported that two of the female characters will not return in Season 4, as series regulars. Again, Carrie moving to a foreign territory may have something to do with this decision. According to the report, Morena Baccarin and Morgan Saylor are expected to join the star-cast of "Homeland" Season 4 as guest-stars and not as series regulards.
The production of Season 4 is scheduled to begin later this month. Cape Town, South Africa is where the shooting will take place. The previous three seasons were filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina.
"We knew going into season four that we would need to move the production overseas to tell the story of Carrie returning to the Middle East as chief of station," Alex Gansa, showrunner of "Homeland, said in a statement. "We are thrilled to have found a new home in Cape Town and look forward to getting season four production off the ground."
"Homeland" Season 4 is scheduled to premiere sometime this fall.
