‘House of Cards’ season 5 update: Release date, cast; 'Maze Runner' Ava Paige in an exciting new role
It has been quite some time since “House of Cards” was last aired. With fans eagerly waiting for “House of Cards” season 5, it has been speculated that streaming giant Netflix has already renewed the TV show, which could premiere anytime soon. Quashing all rumors, Kevin Spacey will be back once again in the role of Frank Underwood, the protagonist in devil’s disguise.
Rest assured, the show will premiere this year; summer 2017 seems like a probable, ideal air date for the “House of Cards”’ fifth season. Frank Underwood will be leading the show, as usual, doing what he does best- creating widespread havoc and fear.
Coming back to the “House of Cards” season 5 air date, Netflix has been conjectured to have announced the show before January ends. According to Den of Geek, the show should premiere on either the last week of February or the first Friday in March; in figures, Feb. 24 or March 3. The previous season of the show has been aired on Netflix in February every time, hence, the deduction.
What “House of Cards” season 5 will be about continues to be a mystery much like the release date. However, Michael Kelly, who plays Doug Stamper in the show, reveals the new season will see many popular characters go. “You lose characters that you love. We almost lost Frank, and I always have faith in the writers that no matter what road we go down, we’re going to come back to what the show is,” Kelly said, according to a Deadline report.
As for the cast, “House of Cards” season 5 will bring to viewers a whole new character (details unfurnished) to be played by Patricia Clarkson of “Maze Runner” fame. What’s known as of now is that she will be playing Underwood’s adversary. Also, Scott Campbell, who played Peter Parker’s father in “The Amazing Spider-Man,” will also be seen in the series.
The show will be available for online streaming exclusively on Netflix. Watch the ruthless Underwood trying to take on Washington, DC in the Netflix original political drama.
