“House Rules” contestants Candy Stuart and Ryan Pusic have split up, the now-ex-couple admitted.

It wasn’t the stress of the show that has gotten to them, though. The pair, who had been together for five years after meeting on a dance floor in Newcastle, said that love was just lacking between them.

“Ryan pretty much confirmed there was no love there and he wanted to move on,” Candy told New Idea magazine.

“We probably knew the second reno in,” 29-year-old Ryan added, referring to the love they have lost while filming the show.

“We bandaged up the relationship and tried to make it work as best as we could, but as soon as the show was finished, that was it.”

Candy and Ryan are competing against five other pairs for the ultimate prize of a full mortgage payment. They have made it to the semi-finals of the on-going show.

Candy, 26, said that it’s up to Ryan what he does with their home.

“I want to sell the house but Ryan wants to keep it and maybe sell it in a couple of months without me. It’s in our solicitors’ hands now.”

In the show’s press release, it appears that their difference in life goal was the main factor in their split. Candy revealed that she wanted to appear in the reality show so that Ryan could finally ask her to marry him.

“I really want to get married and have kids,” she said. “But Ryan doesn’t want to take the next step in our relationship until all the renovations are done.”

And during filming, Candy has seen a different side to her partner that she hadn’t known before.

“I really thought I knew Ryan going into it, but I saw a completely different side to him,” she continued to New Idea.

Meanwhile, “House Rules” has ruled ratings for Monday night.

The house renovation show attracted a total of 1.473 million metro audience, knocking fellow reality show “The Voice” from Channel 9 to third place. Sandwiched between the two is “Nine News,” also from Nine Network.
