The Houston Rockets continued their hot start in the 2014-2015 National Basketball Association (NBA) season with a convincing 98-91 victory over the defending champions San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night. Dwight Howard, who finished with a monster double-double of 32 points, 16 rebounds and 2 blocked shots completely dominated the Spurs' big men, to lead Houston to its sixth straight victory of the new season.

James Harden added 20 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and even added 3 blocked shots for the Rockets, which has now beaten the Spurs six straight times in the regular season. The Spurs' last win over the Rockets was on Dec. 28, 2012.

Howard and Harden didn't need much support from the offence on this evening as the Rockets delivered on the defensive end. The Spurs were forced to shoot just 34.4% from the field (31/90 FGs) and an atrocious 2/20 (10%) from the three-point area. The Spurs were limited to 81 points, the lowest output by the high-scoring team this season.

Houston led by a slim margin, 18-15 after the first quarter but poured it on in the second quarter where they outscored San Antonio, 27-14. They led 45-29 at halftime and never let-up after the break. Jason Terry also contributed with 16 points hitting 4-of-5 shots from behind the arc off the bench. Isaiah Canaan got another start at the point guard spot and had 12 markers.

A lot of players from the San Antonio side did not show up on this one. Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili were rested due to coach's decision but those who were present did not contribute either. Tony Parker had 6 points and 2 turnovers while Kawhi Leonard had 7 points missing 9-of-11 field goal attempts.

Corey Joseph led the Spurs in scoring with 18 markers and hit 9-of-11 shots. Aron Baynes had a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The Rockets improved to 6-0 for the year and are one of the three teams still undefeated this season along with the Memphis Grizzlies (5-0) and the Golden State Warriors (4-0).
