Most of us don't relish the thought of Mondays specifically because the thought of going to work is exhausting; it represents so many negatives that by the time we get there, we're so often in a bad mood that we can't do our work properly.

Working in a cubicle all day will certainly give anyone a new reason to say "I hate my job." Anxieties over projects and working with ridiculous demands can give anyone an ulcer. Committing to so much work will have you rushing home just so you can keep your head above water. These don't need to be the case though. Sometimes all it takes are a few tweaks in behaviour modification.

Try these tips on how to make work a little bit bearable.

  • There's truth in compartmentalizing your life-leave your work in the office and similarly, leave your personal issues at home. Always come to work, 100% focused on the work you have to do.
  • You may set aside breaks or even set up full days when you attend to your personal errands but never let your private affairs interfere with you professional situation.
  • In terms of waking hours, odds are you spend more time in the office than you do at home; this should be enough of a motivation to make a few friends in your work space. They don't necessarily have to be immediately close to you but you do need someone to bond over work pressure and vent to about projects that fall through.
  • Avoid junk food and sugar when eating at the office and keep yourself hydrated. You have to watch what you eat at the office as one is much more prone to stress eating in a work environment.
  • If you have work that needs attending to minus desk, take it. A few walks around the block may do you good as little bursts of activity are good for your productivity.
  • Instead of blocking off large chunks of your day to work on a single project, try to accomplish small tasks that add up during the course of the day. This way you don't have to feel trapped and the variety will feel like you're doing more.
  • Don't forget to reward yourself-what's the use of working if you don't get to spend the rewards?
