'How to Get Away with Murder' Season 2 spoilers: What's next for Laurel, Karla Souza shares work experience with Viola Davis [video]

“How to Get Away with Murder” (HTGAWM) fans should watch out for character Laurel Castillo (Karla Souza) when ABC’s legal drama series returns from its winter hiatus. Series creator and executive producer Peter Nowalk teased what the viewers can expect from Laurel in the second-half episodes of “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 2.

On the “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 2 mid-season finale, Laurel would rather go to jail than shoot Annalise Keating (Viola Davis), who formulated a plan to cover up the murder of A.D.A. Emily Sinclair (Sarah Burns) and protect the Keating Five. Nowalk explained in an Entertainment Weekly (EW) Spoiler Room report that Laurel had to carefully think and see what kind of person she was when Annalise asked her to pull the trigger.

Nowalk admitted that he is excited for the HTGAWM viewers to see how Laurel has evolved from the events that happened that night at the Hapstall mansion. When “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 2 returns, Nowalk teased that Laurel is going to have a very big responsibility on her plate and she will handle it in a way that will surprise the fans. Laurel’s relationship with Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber) is another storyline expected to be explored in the second-half of Season 2.

Meanwhile, actress Karla Souza talked about her work experience with Viola Davis in “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 2 as well as the mid-season finale episode in an interview with Hollywire at the American Music Awards (AMAs) red carpet.

Souza revealed that the HTGAWM cast were all very tired after filming the “Who shot Annalise?” scene at the Hapstall mansion. “We shot it during an entire day, and we were crying from start to finish,” the 29-year-old Mexican actress recounted.

When asked how it feels to work with Viola Davis, Souza’s response was filled with high regard for the 50-year-old award-winning actress. “The entire shot was maybe five hours ... and she didn't change her performance. She would give us her 110%, and she was exhausted by the time the cameras went on her face,” Souza shared.

Souza further added that Davis’ commitment to work has taught the HTGAWM cast members the generosity an actor should have. Karla Souza will return as “Keating Five” member Laurel Castillo in the second half episodes of “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 2 starting on Feb. 11, 2016.
