Viewers of the series have had a few weeks to let the dust settle from all the twists and turns of the episode that forever changed the series. Now that Wes is dead, fans have gone end to end in detail to find out why such has happened and what this could mean for the show’s future.
Wes had always been a key character and he has lifted the plot on his shoulders since the first season. However, for some, he has been dragging the show down. Almost throughout the show’s entire run, he has been one of the most important characters aside from Annalise Keating (Viola Davis).
The killing of Wes could have something to do with the link he and Annalise had in the past. Viewers might recall that Annalise was present when Wes found his mother’s dead body and that is what set off the domino effect that made both present at Middleton at the same time.
The show’s focus on Wes was getting too much as Annalise’s favouritism was getting tiring already. It was good at one point that he had someone to take the place of his mother, but it is also what actually paved the way for his own death. Some fans even speculate that it might have been suicide.
In an interview with Variety, show creator Pete Nowalk reveals that every cause is possible for his death, including suicide. As to those who are worried if they would still see Wes on the show, the Nowalk said that Wes will still be seen and there will be a new mystery revolving around why he was killed. Later on, it will also be revealed who murdered him.
“How to Get Away with Murder” returns on January 19, 2017on ABC. It will also air in Australia on Channel Seven.
