‘How I Met Your Dad’ is Set for Fall Release Date, New Complete Cast
After the epic finale of CBS comedy show "How I Met Your Mother," the show's very own spin-off "How I Met Your Dad" is set to kick off its pilot episode to continue the legacy of the show. With nine legen-wait-for-it-dary years, HIMYM is a tough show to follow but the network is hoping to continue its success with HIMYD show.
Now that the show's success depends on its pilot episode, "How I Met Your Dad" is set to be release for this fall with its new and complete cast. The most anticipated pilot was penned by "Up All Night" writer Emily Spivey and "How I Met Your Mother" creators ("The Goodwin Games") Carter Bays and Craig Thomas ("Da Ali G Show").
Now the question is will the new cast be as memorable as Ted, Marshall, Lily, Robin and Barney? Writers of HIMYD are claiming that the show is completely different from HIMYM but will also feature a lady version of the future Ted telling her kids how she met her husband.
Played by "Frances Ha" star Greta Gerwig, Sally is the new Ted who ended her marriage after only a year. Now as she attempts to grow up and navigate her new life, Sally relies on her friends to go through love and life while living in New York. The star studded cast includes "Master of Sex" Nick D'Agosto, "The Crazy Ones" Tiya Sircar, Andrew Santino and Anders Holm.
"Our hope is that #HIMYD becomes its own magical wonderful weird thing, and the two shows stand on their own side by side," wrote Bays on his Twitter account. "This will be its own, totally new show," adds Thomas.
"It's going to be different than the original," says Gerwig who will be starring her first lead role in the series. "When the premise of the show is that it's a young man looking for his true love, it's a very different feeling than a young woman looking for her true love. Craig Thomas and Carter Bays [the 'HIMYM' creators] are making it too, and Emily Spivey is so funny and great. She wrote forSNL for a long time, and wrote the show Up All Night, and I'm in love with her."
