How I Met Your Mother Co-creator Carter Bays: “Now we’re getting to the fun stuff of the show”
How I Met Your Mother fans are still waiting to find out whether the next season of the sitcom will be its last. Co-creator Carter Bays admitted they are still figuring it out, but he does know one thing: "Now we're getting to the fun stuff of the show."
HIMYM co-creator Craig Thomas had earlier shared some real juicy spoilers to TVGuide a week after the finale of Season 7 aired in the U.S. Do not read on if you absolutely dislike spoilers.
Followers of HIMYM spoilers know at least three things by now: 1. Barney Stinson (Neal Patrick Harris) will really marry Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), 2. Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) will ask Victoria to leave her fiancée/ex-fiancee a note before running away, and 3. Barney and Robin will have other significant relationships before they could get married.
Thomas had hinted he would want to really plan out a season if it was going to be the last. At this point, though, their creative team has worked on Season 8 as if it would just be another season.
Bays also hinted the creative people behind the show still has a lot in store for HIMYM fans now that their characters and stories are developing in a whole new level.
"(N)ow we're getting to the fun stuff of the show," Bays told Matt Noble in an interview with Television Awards Blog. "It's hard not to be excited by that," he added.
Bays also said Ted Mosby seems to be at the very doorstep of the next chapter of his life, "and that will be Season 8, which may or may not be the final season, we are still trying to figure that out," the series co-creator and executive producer said.
It does seem that Season 8 will not be the last season, after all, doesn't it?
For now, fans should kill time by following Barney Stinson's pop insights on his character blog. It is the closest to a new episode than fans can enjoy until September comes.
