‘How I Met Your Mother' Finale Season 9 Ended Where It All Began, Understanding Why It has Always Been Robin
The awaited "How I Met Your Mother" finale was not what most fans have been waiting for and many turned to the social media like Twitter and Facebook to air their disappointments with the writers and producers of the show. Major Spoiler alert for those who have not watched the show -- Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) and Robin Scherbatsky finally ended up together.
Many have criticized the finale while other praised it for being ingenious in making viewers wait almost a decade for the future Ted tells the moment he finally met the "Mother" of his kids. Although some fans have speculated that Ted and Robin would eventually end up together, they were put off from this theory as several seasons were dedicated to the love story of Robin and Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris).
Many have loved the Robin and Barney pairing because they were seen as the dream pair by some fans as their personalities perfectly matched. A fan has even shared in Twitter that the pair made her believe in true love as she tweeted "Barney and Robin were the reason I believed that true love was possible and that people can change for the better." But the pairing was not meant to be, as speculations were made that the ending was filmed back in 2005.
It has and was always been Robin and Ted. She was the dream girl and the writers made it clear to the viewers about it right from the start. However, as the story progresses, the two were made to have different opinions about love which made them unable to be together.
The writers then made it possible for the viewers to witness the two growing mature with the help of other people, especially Robin who was relationship-phobic at first. Ted was Barney helped her grow in love but she has always been meant for Ted.
Ted made it known that he always had feelings for Robin in various "How I Met Your Mother" episodes. The Tracy McConnell (Cristin Milioti) is not forsaken though. She will always be the "Mother" and Ted's soul mate, according to Entertainment Weekly.
