How I Met Your Mother Season 8 Episode 5 offers “The Autumn of Break-Ups.” Avid viewers know there are only two couples left to break-up. Will the ‘good riddance’ among them happen Monday night on CBS?

In the preview video below, Ted and Victoria seem to be having the talk. Ted starts.

“Lily and Marshall think I’m missing all these hints you’re dropping,” Ted tells Victoria. Then the clip jumps to a scene in which Victoria is holding up her wedding gown. She asks Ted, “Should I keep this wedding dress? Or do you think I’ll never ever need it again?”

Victoria’s emphasis on “never ever” gives you clues on the “hints” that Ted has apparently been missing.

But Ted hates Victoria –

Ted hates Victoria. Well, not the person, entirely. He wanted to be with her, but he didn’t realize they would have such a literally messy life together. Newsflash, this Germany-educated pastry chef is a slob at home. And Ted hates that part of her. Now that Victoria seems to be pushing for a marriage, she is most likely to get a break-up instead.

If Ted break up with Victoria, then he is well on his way to meet the “mother” in the hit comedy’s title. It may be about time.
Meet Barney’s new wingman

On the upcoming episode, viewers will meet Barney’s new wingman. But no, there won’t be a new guest celebrity on the CBS show. Barney’s new wingman is a dog. Elaborate pun on the big B word, eh?

The official promo for “The Autumn of Break-Ups” reads:
“As the season of break-ups continues, Ted and Victoria must choose the next step in their long and complicated relationship. Meanwhile, Robin worries about Barney when he chooses a dog to be his wingman."
