"How I Met Your Mother" Season 8, Episode 13 ("Band or DJ") showed the mother again. Technically, the question posed by the title has been answered in this week's episode of the hit CBS sitcom. Ted and the mother met at his best friends' wedding. But how was their first hello?

If you watched the latest HIMYM episode, then you've seen the mother (again). Or at least you saw a tiny faceless bit of her (again). This is a huge improvement from the yellow umbrella fans used to see much earlier into the series. Now, what happens next?

By the end of HIMYM Season 6, it was established Ted will meet the mother at a wedding. Season 7 premiered, and fans learned Barney will be the groom in the said wedding. In that season's finale, the bride was revealed to be Robin. The present season started off with a glimpse of the bride and groom having separate anxiety attacks. Then viewers saw the mother getting off a cab at the Farhampton station, where Ted is waiting for his train.

Ted's and the mother's eyes didn't meet at the time. Judging from the movement of the mother's feet, it seemed she didn't want him to see her. There must be a story on that.

Right in the middle of the current season, it was implied the Robin-Barney wedding pushes through. Perhaps by the end of this season, the story about Ted's first "Hello" with the mother will be told. (And the reason why she - or her feet - seemed uncomfortable at the Farhampton station.)

How I Met Your Mother Season 9: 'Do people watch the show beyond knowing the Mother?' - CBS President

Meanwhile, the HIMYM renewal for a ninth season is already "known" but not yet official. It is believed to be the final season of the series. CBS president Nina Tassler told reporters over the weekend that things will be resolved soon.

Naturally, the show's execs are wondering how Ted's story will unfold next season, especially after this week's episode. Still, Tassler said series creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays will have their way.

"We talked about this the other day: do people watch the show beyond knowing the Mother?" Tassler was quoted by Hitflix. "But it would be the end as designed by Carter and Craig, and I wouldn't want to even attempt to undermine whatever their creative goal is," Tassler said.
