How I Met Your Mother Season 8 finale airs Monday night in the U.S. via CBS. Robin Scherbatsky will be seen in her bridal gown. The 'mother' will finally be revealed. Marshall and Lily Eriksen get ready to move to Rome. And Ted Mosby deals with some lingering feelings, as well as Barney Stinson's (and his bride's) cold feet. Viewers can definitely expect lots of cliffhangers.

A lot of things are expected to unfold in this year's finale of How I Met Your Mother. The wedding by itself could take an entire episode. But as more HIMYM reports surface, it becomes more likely that the exchange of wedding vows will not happen until Season 9.

"There's a few cliffhangers for a few different characters actually," Carter Bays told TVGuide.com. "It's kind of a crowded cliff."

Viewers will follow three stories in the 30-minute sitcom finale, which shows about 10 minutes of commercials. Robin and Barney get in a competition with an annoying couple. Marshall and Lily get ready to move to Rome. Ted Mosby visits his newly renovated house - the one in which Future Ted tells his kids how he met their mother. And then there's perhaps a minute or two (or less?) about the wedding. Is it still going to be "little ways down the road?"

How I Met Your Mother Season 9 will be very different, according to the showrunners. In reports, the creators are not ruling out the possibility of letting Marshall and Lily stay in Rome throughout the season. Marshall, Lily, Robin and Ted could be saying goodbye to the apartment they've all lived in earlier than the "Friends" gang did. Barney Stinson could probably be letting go of The Fortress of Barnitude, after all. The possibilities are endless for the HIMYM gang.

Ted will have to pour out some feelings for Robin first. At his newly-renovated home, Ted will be seen talking to Lily about some old romantic feelings for Robin. The lingering gaze and the tender hand-holding in the first part of the finale is loaded with emotions. Viewers can almost hear Ted's heart crushing.

Robin and Barney will definitely get cold feet. Viewers have seen that in the show's fast forward glimpses to the wedding. How will best man Ted fix this?

Meanwhile, Alyson Hannigan seems to have confirmed that HIMYM viewers will finally get to see the mother's face. The mother's ankle, build (counting in the coat factor in the difference), and bass-guitar-holding arm have been shot in three different episodes the past eight seasons. Now viewers might finally hear Ted Mosby's first (predictably) dorky line to his future wife.

"I had always thought that the last shot of the whole series was going to be the reveal of the mother," Hannigan recently said on "The Late Show with David Letterman." She then dished one major teaser. (Salute!)

"Without CBS coming and killing me, I just want to say that I'm glad I didn't bet on that." Now that answers one out of the many questions in the HIMYM viewers' mind!
