How I Met Your Mother Season 8 finale airs Monday night on CBS. Fans will see a different Robin Scherbatsky in this episode, and her dad comes in to show more of that side. This penultimate episode is expected to shake things up in the series, as the gang transitions to an all-new chapter.

How I Met Your Mother Season 8 Finale Part 1: Robin's "Something Old"

HIMYM fans are aware Robin's father had always wanted a son. He named his firstborn after him, and called her RJ. As a teen, Robin learned to hunt in the wild as a growing up pre-requisite in her dad's life course book.

Despite her strange upbringing, RJ or Robin Charles Scherbatsky, Jr. has been a hopeless romantic since her youth. She later learns to hide this hopeless romantic side of her, but there is a lasting proof of that. And How I Met Your Mother will take us to that little piece of Robin history.

For her "something old," Robin revisits a teenage memory that happened in a New York City visit with her dad. Viewers will see how things unfolded during this visit, and young Robin will say these lines:

"One day, I'm going to move here, marry a sophisticated big city man with a sick mullet, like all the way down to his shoulder pads."Robin is digging a hole on the ground as she says this. "And at night, he'll let me brush it, and I'll dig up this locket so it can be my 'something old' at our wedding."

In one of the CBS promo photos for the How I Met Your Mother Season 8 finale, we see present-day-Robin holding up a locket. Perhaps this is the same locket she buried as a teenage girl on NYC tour.

In an E! Online spoiler, it was mentioned that "Lily has something that Robin wants for her wedding" and "it's causing some friction between the best friends." If you knew Lily, you'd guess this NYC-born-and-bred could have somehow found what Robin had buried in Central Park. What else would Robin want so badly for her?

The next part of the finale, "Something New," airs next week. It is widely believed viewers will not see the wedding through completion in this episode. But the titular mother will be there.
