Barney and Robin: "The Final Page"

Barney reveals to Robin that he has schemed with Patrice to write the final page of his playbook, which is aptly called "The Robin." This elaborate plan ultimately leads to Barney's proposal.

"Hope she says 'yes,'" is the final sentence in the final page of Barney's Playbook. And "yes," she said, indeed.

Barney's proposal got mixed reviews from the viewers. There are those who got nostalgic, there are those who felt Robin deserved better. Then there are those who doubt whether she is really sure this time around.

In the Season 8 premiere, Robin is seen in a flash forward glimpse to her future wedding. She is nearly chickening out though Ted reassures her Barney is not freaking out. (Though he is, too.) This brings to mind the question: Was Robin successfully manipulated by Barney, or does she really want to marry him?

"The next chapter in this story is about Robin deciding if that's really what she wants in a husband, and Barney deciding if he's about more than just magic tricks," HIMYM co-creator Carter Bays told Vulture.

Reacting on some viewers' comment that there was something so icky in the way Barney proposed, Bays said:

"It'll come up that there's two sides of this coin: Was this a big, whimsical romantic gesture, or was it emotional manipulation? Ultimately, I think that's really Barney in a nutshell: loveable amorality."

Having said that, it does seem Robin has a lot of thinking to do. Will there be another HIMYM wedding this season?
