A CBS exec has also revealed HIMYM 9 is a long elaborate story that takes place during the weekend honeymoon of Robin and Barney.

The next and final How I Met Your Mother is a long farewell, apparently. It's a treat to loyal fans who stuck to the show through the years. Writers will be showing fans "how each character, before Ted, meets the mother. So they each meet her independently before he does."

CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler recently told TVLine how HIMYM 9 will run its course. Apparently, the year-long Season 9 is about how each person in the gang meets the mother. (Are fans thrilled with this idea?)

It makes sense that Cristin Milioti is going to play a huge role in the final season. She is, after all, the 'mother' in the title. How I Met Your Mother co-creator Carter Bays describes the show's final season as "the epic story of the longest wedding weekend ever."

Viewers can expect lots of flashbacks and flashforwards. There also remains the possibility of Lily and Marshall moving to Rome.

What both Bays and Tassler hinted in their interviews is that Robin and Barney do get married. A lot of How I Met Your Mother fans are still speculating on everything that could go wrong on the night of the wedding. But with an epic honeymoon weekend on the horizon, the doubts could be slowly melting away.
