"How I Met Your Mother" Season 9, Episode 14 is titled "Slapsgiving 3: Slappointment in Slapmarra." This new 2014 episode airs on Jan. 13, pushing the sitcom closer to the series finale in March. Cristin Milioti's mother character was last seen on How I Met Your Mother Season 9, Episode 13. Co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas have been vindicated in casting the comedy actress for the yet-to-be-named role. A lot of fans are pointing out how Cristin is able to rock the adorably awkward nerd vibe. They are also giving her chemistry with Josh Radnor's Ted Mosby a big thumbs-up. Fans will see more of her on the show's 200th episode, airing Jan. 27.

Here are the things fans can expect from How I Met Your Mother Season 9 in 2014 (Spoilers): A big moment for Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders) and the mother. A revisit from Victoria (Ashley Williams). A landmark first encounter with the future wife for Ted Mosby. Two more slaps from Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel) landing on Barney Stinson's (Neil Patrick Harris) face. A Rome-related decision from Marshall and Lily (Alyson Hannigan). Robin's and Barney's wedding hour. The Farhampton continuation. And of course, the series finale on March 31.

The How I Met Your Mother series ending was possibly inspired by the "Cheers" finale in 1993, considering Thomas' shout-out on Twitter.

"Watched the #Cheers series finale again for inspiration; cried as hard as I did in 1993. A reminder why we do what we do. #HIMYM," Thomas shared with HIMYM fans via Twitter. He added, "I'd be proud if #HIMYM finale were even half as good as that! #cheers."

For many fans, it is quite a coincidence that How I Met Your Mother Season 9 ends the series in 2014 - ten years after the airing of NBC's FRIENDS series finale in 2004. There are rumours circulating about a FRIENDS cast reunion. But for many HIMYM fans, the time to think of reunions has yet to come.

How I Met Your Mother Season 9, Episode 14, aka Slapsgiving 3: Slappointment in Slapmarra is the last winter premiere episode from Ted, Barney, Lily, Marshall, and Robin. Even the newbie (but oldie in role) Cristin Milioti will be greatly missed. Ten more episodes, and fans would be ready to lobby for a HIMYM reunion, too.
