How I Met Your Mother Season 9 is the show's "victory lap," at least that is how the actor who plays Ted Mosby sees this development.

Some HIMYM viewers have been frustrated over the long drawn 8-year-old story of how Ted meets the mother of his two kids. Not everyone is taking the Season 9 news with cheer. But it seems only one HIMYM actor had been reluctant to have a farewell season.

"When there was fear that we were suddenly just going to not come back, it felt a little weird to end like, oh, 10 more episodes and you're done with this massive chapter of your life," Radnor told Access Hollywood.

Radnor was talking about the 2012 holiday break, during which neither the actors nor the show runners knew whether there would be a ninth season.

"Now we get to have a year where we all know it's the last time, so [the series could] get a kind of victory lap," Radnor added.

Jason Segel was reportedly the last to go on board for HIMYM Season 9. It is presumed the actor has outgrown his character, Marshall Eriksen, or he wanted to have time for other projects. Creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays have indicated in the past there won't be a ninth season unless all the stars of the show signed up for it.

In earlier interviews last year, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan both sounded optimistic for a full farewell season. Harris spoke of a farewell plan, while Hannigan said HIMYM is the best job she's ever had. Cobie Smulders also sounded supportive of HIMYM Season 9, noting much-improved ratings in Season 7.

Next week on HIMYM, Robin Sparkles appears (perhaps for the last time) to entertain the gang and the viewers.
