How I Met Your Mother is down to its final season. This only means one thing: Fans will soon meet Ted's future wife. But before that, the show's writers wisely decided to reveal the identity of Barney's bride.

It was just about time.

At the end of season six, HIMYM fans learned that Barney will marry someone ahead of Ted. At the end of season seven, fans learned that Barney is marrying Robin Scherbatsky.

That's right, when Barney comes asking Ted whether he was wearing the "right tie" in a future wedding scene in HIMYM, he was actually asking whether it was really a good idea to marry one of their best friends.

It all makes sense, and here are the Top 5 Reasons why Robin and Barney make a convincing couple:

5. Barney should be with someone who totally accepts him for who he really is.

Nora and Quinn both wanted to turn him into somebody else. Nora demanded changes; Quinn wanted him to be okay with her stripping. Barney tried hard to show Nora he could change, and then he faked his acceptance of Quinn's passion for stripping. Robin had just allowed Barney to be who he had always been with her and with the gang.

4. Robin should be with someone who understands that she is messed up and still love her despite that.

Robin chose her ex-therapist Kevin over Barney because she thought Kevin saw her differently. But Kevin only idealized her and saw only the good things about her. Barney always sees through her.

3. Barney and Robin are clearly in-love with each other.

This alone should be enough, but relationships are complicated, so their characters need more to hold on to when the going gets tough.

2. Barney and Robin brought the worst in each other the first time they got together.

But they gave up too soon. They admitted to being unhappy and agreed that they were better off as friends. Yet they wound up in relationships that were either founded on merely physical attraction or emotional rebound. In contrast, Barney and Robin founded their relationship on genuine intimate feelings and - even if they would not admit it - respect.

1. Barney and Robin have always struggled to deny their feelings for each other.

First, they couldn't label their relationship. Then, they broke up. Barney dated someone else, and Robin denied feeling jealous. Robin dated someone else, and Barney asked him for another chance. When Robin chose Kevin over Barney, he tried to move on as fast as he could. But they pull each other every time, and the chemistry is just so strong.

Due to reason No. 1, it was not really surprising to see Robin as Barney's bride in the season finale of How I Met Your Mother. How the wedding happens, and whether or not it sticks, are waiting to be seen in the eighth and final season of the series. So, 'waitforit.'
