How Kate Middleton's First Speech Went [PHOTOS and VIDEO]
Today, the Duchess of Cambridge delivered her first solo speech, and by the looks of it, everyone is pleased and proud of the new Royal.
Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, made her first ever public speech at the opening of Tree House project in East Anglia Children's Hospice, one of the charities she is supporting. It is her first official public appearance and speech as a Duchess since the Royal Wedding last year.
It seems that everyone who witnessed the speech were fairly proud of the Duchess, saying her first attempt at public speaking without the help of her husband was a success.
"The eyes and ears of the world were on her" told Dickie Arbiter, a royal commentator, to ABC News.
"When I first visited the hospice in Milton, I had a pre-conceived idea as to what to expect," she said. "Far from being a clinical, depressing place for sick children, it was a home. Most importantly, it was a family home, a happy place of stability, support and care. It was a place of fun" said Middleton in a part of her speech.
The Duchess wore a blue coat by one of her favorite brands, Reiss, and was a strikingly similar image to her late mother-in-law, Lady Diana. When compared with Diana, Arbiter mentions that Middleton has already succeeded expectations because she had more experience and time to grow for herself.
"Diana was 20 when she came in. Kate was 30. Kate had a university education, Diana didn't. Kate had an 8-year relationship with William before she got married to him. Diana barely had an 8-month relationship with Charles...Kate's had 10 years of growing up. Diana didn't." said Arbiter in the same report.
