You can now root and install the ClockworkMod custom recovery on LG Nexus 5 running Android 4.4.3 KitKat KTU84M firmware. It will enable you to install custom ROMs and manage apps requiring root access.

Similar with LG Nexus 4 KTU84L, rooting and installation of ClockworkMod custom recovery require certain files and some knowledge with the Command Window. Here are the steps compiled by Team Android.

Prerequisites:

1. Your LG Nexus 5 must be running the Android 4.4.3 KitKat KTU84M build version.

2. Create a backup of all data files and personal settings stored on your smartphone.

3. The battery level should have at least 70 per cent.

4. Enable USB debugging mode on your device.

5. Download the necessary USB drivers on your computer for LG Nexus 5.

6. The boot loader should be unlocked to gain root access.

7. Download and install the Android SDK on your computer.

8. Download the Fastboot tools appropriate for your machine then extract its contents to the "android-sdk-windows/platform-tools" directory.

b. MAC OS

c. Linux OS

9. Setup the ADB and Fastboot with Android SDK on your computer.

10. Download the SuperSu version 1.99 and the ClockworkMod version 6.0.4.7 on your computer.

Warning: We are not responsible for any errors which may occur on your device. Download and install the required files to avoid any issues. Do this at your own risk.

Rooting Procedure:

1. Connect your LG Nexus 5 to the computer using a USB cable.

2. Copy and paste the SuperSu zip file you've downloaded earlier to the internal storage of your smartphone.

3. Switch off the smartphone.

4. On your computer, transfer the files of ClockworkMod custom recovery to the "android-sdk-windows/platform-tools" directory.

5. Reboot the smartphone to Boot loader mode by pressing and holding Volume Down and Power keys at the same time.

6. Go back to the "android-sdk-windows/platform-tools" directory on your computer and open a Command Window. Press the Shift key on the keyboard then right-click inside the folder to open the Command Window.

7. Type in the following commands in the Command Window then press the Enter key:

a. "fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.7-hammerhead" (exclude the quotation marks).

8. After the installation process, select "recovery" to go to Recovery mode.

9. Select "install/flash from zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > select the SuperSU zip file > confirm installation."

10. Go back to the main menu, select "reboot system now." Wait till the device reaches the home screen which may take up to five minutes.

11. In order to check if the device has been rooted, download the Root Checker app from the Play Store or go to the App Menu to see the SuperSU application.
