The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 phablet can now be rooted running any firmware version which will allow owners to flash custom ROMs, use applications requiring root access and control its CPU cores.

Requirements

- Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3

- Create a backup of all your personal settings and data files

- Enable USB debugging mode: "Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging"

- Make sure that the battery level is at least 50 per cent

- Download the Root Kit for Galaxy Mega and the Odin Tool on your computer.

Rooting Procedure

1. Switch off your Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3

2. Press and hold the Volume Down + Menu keys to boot into Download mode.

3. Launch the Odin tool on your computer.

4. Connect your phablet to your computer using a USB cable.

5. Check if the "ID:COM" section on your Odin tool lights "yellow" or "green." If so, the device is detected. If not, download the necessary USB drivers for Galaxy Mega 6.3.

6. Extract the ".tar file" from the Rooting Kit you have downloaded earlier.

7. Select "PDA" in Odin tool and choose the ".tar file"

8. Do not check or uncheck anything else and simply hit "Start" to begin rooting your device.

9. Once the rooting procedure is complete, the device will reboot automatically which then you can disconnect it from the computer.

Well done! Your Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is now rooted and grants you full administrative privileges. Go to the Apps Menu and look for the "SuperSU" app indicating your device is rooted.

If you get stuck with a boot loop and cannot proceed to the home screen, remove and reinsert the battery then follow the instructions again.
