1. Remove the SIM card on the smartphone regardless of reasons.

2. Remove the microSD card and if you're going to sell the phone, makes sure to format it before handing it over.

3. Perform a factory reset by going to Settings > Backup and restore > Reset phone. It will give you a choice if both the internal and external storage are going to be reformatted then simply continue to allow the procedure. All files and accounts are deleted in this process.
