Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5110 can now be updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, using a firmware version dubbed XXCMG2. It includes the latest UI improvements and system enhancements for the device with adaptation of several features from Galaxy S4.

Requirements:

- Use this firmware update to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5110 only.

- Create a backup of all personal information and data files on your phablet before flashing the update. Do not use the Samsung Kies but instead manually backup the device.

- Make sure that the battery level is at least 50 per cent.

- Enable USB debugging mode. Go to "Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging."

- Download the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Firmware for Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5110 and the Odin Tool to your computer.

Warning: This is a pre-release firmware for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5110. It features the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and new apps from Galaxy S4; however, Samsung didn't officially release the firmware. Read and follow the instructions carefully to prevent damaging your device. Developers and sources are not responsible for any error which may occur on your Note 8.0. Do this at your own risk.

Flashing Instructions:

1. Extract the ".tar" file from the downloaded firmware to a new folder on your computer.

2. Launch the Odin tool.

3. Shut down your Galaxy Note 8.0 and reboot it into Download mode. Press and hold Volume down + Menu keys.

4. Connect your Galaxy Note 8.0 to the computer using a USB cable.

5. The ID:COM in the Odin tool should turn yellow or blue indicating a successful connection. If not, download and install the necessary USB drivers for your Galaxy Note 8.0 on your computer.

6. In the Odin tool, select the "PDA" and choose the ".tar" file you have extracted earlier.

7. Do not change anything else and hit "Start."

8. The process may take up to 4 minutes to finish and will automatically restart your device.

Congratulations! Your Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is now running the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with several new additions from Galaxy S4 and system enhancements.

In case of boot loop, you need to reboot the device into Recovery mode which will require a ClockworkMod custom recovery. Inside the Recovery mode, select "wipe cache partition" then restart the device.
