How To Update Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 To Android 4.4.2 KitKat Via SlimROM
Users of Samsung Galaxy S first generation GT-I9000 can upgrade to Android 4.4.2 KitKat using the SlimROM custom firmware. Some features included on the custom ROM are dark Slim theme, Slim Recent Apps, SlimPie and Privacy Guard.
Requirements:
1. Flash this ROM to the Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 only.
2. Root the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone and install a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod.
3. Create a backup all data files and personal settings stored on the phone.
4. Battery level should be at least 70 per cent to avoid power interruption during installation.
5. Enable the USB debugging mode on the Samsung Galaxy S.
6. Download and install the necessary USB drivers on the computer for Samsung Galaxy S.
7. Download the SlimROM Android 4.4.2 KitKat and the Slim Google Apps zip files on the computer.

Flashing Instructions:
1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy S to the computer via USB connection.
2. Copy and paste the SlimROM and Slim Google Apps zip files to the microSD card of the device. Do not extract any of the zip files.
3. Switch off the Galaxy S smartphone and disconnect it from the computer.
4. Reboot into Recovery mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up, Home and Power keys at the same time.
5. In the Recovery mode, create a nAndroid backup of the current ROM by selecting "backup and restore > backup." Use the "restore" option to revert back the device to the saved ROM.
6. Perform a complete wipe on the device. Choose "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" then select "advanced > wipe Dalvik cache."
7. Install the SlimROM by selecting "install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > select the SlimROM zip file downloaded earlier > confirm installation." Apply the same process for the Slim Google Apps zip file.
8. After the installation, go back to the main menu and select "reboot system now."
9. The Samsung Galaxy S will automatically reboot and may take up to five minutes before reaching the home screen.
