New figures released by SEEK today have revealed that job ad growth has increased across Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia - and HR is among the top industries experiencing jobs growth.

SEEK's figures show the number of new job ads is up 0.7% in November and is 2.7% higher than this time last year, and the fastest moving jobs over the past three months have been for positions in HR, teaching, retail and property development

SEEK managing director Joe Powell said, "The Australian job market has been quite resilient considering the uncertainties of the European and North American economies. Although we have seen a gradual slowing in the jobs market... job ad numbers are 2.7% higher than a year ago".

Powell commented that the number of job ads for HR specialists has increased by 19%.

Top five fast moving jobs (September - November)

  1. Tertiary Teachers up 83%
  2. Primary Teachers up 46%
  3. Vocational Teachers up 34%
  4. HR Specialists up 19%
  5. Retail and property developers up 17%

Powell added, "It's interesting to see the variation in new job ads this month at a regional level. It does not seem consistent with a two-speed economy view of the Australian jobs market. It is however encouraging to see an increase in states such as Victoria which has been declining over the last six months."
