More Android 4.4 KitKat OmniROM nightly builds are now available for download from HTC, Sony and Oppo.

The list of newly supported handsets include Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia T, HTC One and Oppo N1. OmniROM also announced that Samsung devices will also get nightly support. These include flagship models such as Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2, Nexus tablets and smartphones such as the Nexus 7 2012 and 2013, Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 and the Oppo Find 5.

Nexus owners now enjoy the official Android 4.4 KitKat version but Sony, Samsung and HTC devices have yet to receive their respective Android 4.4 KitKat updates.

Being launched only a few months ago, OmniROM is the latest custom ROMs for Android devices and it appears to be growing in popularity among users. Installing custom ROMs in your devices will void warranties but users are entitled to do whatever they want with their Android smartphones and tablets. They are encouraged to backup their data and follow installing instructions properly to avoid bricking or damaging their devices.

The official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is causing headaches to Samsung Galaxy S3 users and now have a choice to bump it to Android 4.4 KitKat custom ROM that seems to be even more stable than the official version. Everything works well in this ROM, except for dodgy photos and video playback. If you want to install it with your Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-19300 international model, please follow the guide below.

Step 1: Root your Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 international model and install ClockworkMod Touch 6.0.32 or a later version. Backup all your data and settings. Note that a manual backup is better than using the Samsung Kies PC Suite. Make sure to have at least 50% battery life to avoid power interruption during installation.

Step 2: Enable USB debugging on the Galaxy S3. Go to Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging or Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging.

Step 3: Install the necessary USB drivers in the computer for Galaxy S3 GT-I9300.

Step 4: Download the OmniROM 4.4 and PA Gapps to the computer.

Step 5: Flash. Connect the Galaxy S3 to the computer with a USB cable. Copy the OmniROM 4.4 and PA Gapps and paste it on the phone's SD card but do not extract the ZIP files.

Step 6: Unplug the device and turn it off. Reboot the handset into recovery mode by pressing and holding the Home, volume up and power keys all at the same time until the Samsung logo appears. Use hard keys or touch controls to move around recovery mode.

Step 7: Do a ROM Android backup. Select "backup and restore > backup" to save it. This allows you to restore it anytime.

Step 8: Install the firmware and Google Apps by selecting "install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card." Look for the OmniROM 4.4 that you pasted in Step 5 and confirm installation. Do the same with the PA Gapps.

Step 9: After installation, go back to the main menu and choose "wipe data/factory reset."

Step 10: Reboot the Galaxy S3 by choosing "reboot system now." Wait for a while until the home screen appears. Enjoy Android 4.4 KitKat from OmniROM 4.4!

If stuck in a boot loop, you can try these steps:

- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- advanced > wipe Dalvik cache
- install zip from SD card
- reboot system now
