Last week, HTC had already seeded the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the HTC One A9. Now, the company has started distributing the December security update for the HTC One E9 and One E9+.

The two smartphones in Taiwan received the December security update as reported by users via Gadgetzarena. HTC One E9 and E9+ will receive the update soon and it will bring minor improvements in the handset’s touchscreen performance. However, the update will not have any major upgrades for the smartphone’s UI or Android versions.

The update is approximately 358MB in size and carries the version number for HTC One E9 as 1.50.709.3 while the version number for HTC One E9+ is 1.45.709.5.

Meanwhile, Samsung has also started to roll out the December security update for its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge+.

Early in July, it was discovered that a Stagefright vulnerability bug could harm the Android devices. After this, Google declared that it would roll out the monthly security update and all other Android manufacturers agreed to roll out the update monthly.

It was reported in July that Zimperium, a cyber-security company, has found a loophole in the world’s most popular smartphone operating system. The loophole or vulnerability allows the hackers to take control by sending an MMS message to the Android device.

The report stated that the MMS contains an especially crafted media file that enables the hackers to execute the code remotely. The bug has the ability to take control of the device even though the message has not been opened.

The vulnerability was later named Stagefright and is related to the Android mediaserver. The bug can affect several related services and could be exploited. It was even reported that it has already affected almost every Android device to date, and companies had to roll out bug fixers to solve the problem, notes NDTV.
