The Huawei Ascend W2 smart phone had a silent and simple appearance at the June 26-28 Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai, China. Huawei's Ascend W2 budget phone features and specs sheet is shown at a small booth with no details on availability and pricing but circulating reports claim the device will cost less than $300.

Huawei Ascend W2 has a 4.3-inch WVGA screen display with 800x480p resolution, Qualcomm MSM8230 Snapdragon S4 Plus chipset with the dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.4GHz, Adreno 305 GPU and 512MB of RAM. Additional features and specs are the 8MP camera, 1700mAh battery that can be replaced with a bigger alternative, full-size SIM card slot and 8GB internal storage capacity with a microSD card slot for memory storage expansion.

The Ascend W2 has the measurement of 134x66.7x9.9 mm and the available color choices are red, blue and yellow comparable to the Nokia Lumia range. The smart phone's three soft keys are backlit to suit the users' color choice for their desired Windows Phone 8 theme.

Another remarkable feature that can be found on the touch screen is the Glove Mode, which has been incorporated as well on other Huawei smart phones, designed for the cold winter season. Consumers outside of China must wait for the release of a W2 WCDMA variation since this Ascend W2 version is equipped with a TD-SCDMA radio for China Mobile.

It is expected that China will be the first to have availability on the Huawei Ascend W2 with a release in Europe to follow in the later part of this year. The Chinese company's low-cost smart phone will be heading as well in the Latin America and Asian markets as the inexpensive alternative for other Windows Phone 8 devices.
