Huawei Honor 5X debuts at the CES 2016 for US$199.99
Huawei’s Honor 5X finally arrives in the US for a price tag of US$199.99 (approx. AU$285). The phone was recently launched at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 at Las Vegas. The low-priced smartphone is expected to do well against Xiaomi’s budget smartphones.
Huawei aims at expanding its business across the United States, which is the high-end market for the Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications company. George Zhao, President of Honor Global, had confirmed earlier that Huawei Honor 5X would soon come to the US and the company will announce its arrival at the CES event.
According to The Verge, the Honor 5X will be available in the US later this month. The company has been struggling for long to sell its smartphones in the US market, and it has now successfully reached the country. Preorders for the Honor 5X has already started at Newegg and Amazon. The phone will start shipping to US consumers from Jan. 31.
Honor 5X has a 5.5-inch display screen with 1,080p resolutions, a 13 MP rear camera and a 3,000 mAH battery. It features a Snapdragon 615 processor with 2 GB of RAM. Although the phone is very affordable, it looks more expensive and solid with its quality design and features. The device, however, has the Android 5.1.1 software running at its core and not the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
Meanwhile, the Chinese company also launched Mate 8 at the CES event. The new device is a productivity-driven handset that ensures great power and battery life. With the Mate 8, Huawei continues to deliver high-end devices that aim to meet global consumer demand.
