U.S. President Barack Obama had a blend of the Christmas and the X-Men at the holiday show in Washington on Sunday. The show had glittering stars like Hugh Jackman, Sheryl Crow and the Backstreet Boys.

Obama and his wife Michelle, along with daughters Malia and Sasha, attended the "Christmas in Washington," an annual concert targeted for the benefits of the Children's National Medical Center. The show has been recorded and will be broadcast on TNT, Friday Dec. 20.

Hugh Jackman became the host of the event. Obama could not resist the temptation of connecting with Jackman with the Wolverine character as he portrayed in the X-Men movie series, Reuters reported. Obama said he would like to thank the host, Jackman, for leaving his Wolverine 'claws at home' to secure everyone's safety. He jokingly added it would be extremely difficult for Jackman to wrap present if he had such claws.

It was the 32nd edition of the 'Christmas in Washington' concert. The celebration at the National Building Museum was enriched with Christmas carols. The President commented that every American should keep Jesus Christ's lessons of compassion and charity in mind. He noted Jesus taught everyone through his life. He showed that everyone should love the Lord. He also conveyed the message of loving our neighbors and loving one's own personality.

Obama said Christ's teachings had endured for generations. Millions of Americans and billion others all over the world follow his teachings. He added the message of devotion and hope has united everyone in the holiday reason no matter what faith people follow. Thereafter, the Obamas visited young patients dressed as elves.

Jackman emphasized on remembering the less fortunate people during the festive season. He said while hosting the event that the holiday is also the season of compassion. Other celebrities who ornamented the show included singers such as Janelle Monae, Sheryl Crow and Actress Anna Kendrick.
