In the November issue of the Australian Women's Weekly magazine, "X-Men" actor Hugh Jackman talks about the pain that he felt at the age of 8 when his mother left him and his four other siblings.

Although, he and his mother, Grace Watson, have patched things up and reconciled, it was difficult for Hugh to reveal this painful incident to the public until now.

In spite of this awful experience in the past, the Australian actor still forgave his mother after becoming a parent himself to his two children, 12-year-old son, Oscar and 7-year-old daughter, Ava.

In the magazine interview, Hugh Jackman revealed that fatherhood helped him realize the demanding responsibilities his mother went through.

"At the time it was difficult. One of the main things I remember is that horrible feeling that people were talking about you and looking at you because it was odd for the mother to leave," Jackman said in the Australian Women's Weekly.

The DailyMail UK reported that Jackman's mum, Grace Watson, only informed the family, a husband and five children, that she left for the UK through a sent telegram.

Hugh Jackman revealed that for many years he clung onto hope thinking that his mum and dad will still get back together, but he had "the roughest time" realizing and accepting that it would never be the same with his family.

According to Hugh Jackman, he absolutely did not feel his mother, Grace, stopped caring for him and his siblings even though she abandoned her family.

"The thing I never felt and I know this might sound strange, I never felt that my mum didn't love me. I've spoken about it at length with her since and I know she was struggling," Jackman told Women's Weekly magazine.

He cited that that his mum suffered from a terrible post-partum depression after he was born and what seemed to aggravate her was that there was no support system for her.

Newsday.com reports Hugh Jackman and his mum had been mending their relationship by seeing each other at least three or four times a year.
