Hugh Jackman Pays Tribute to Aussie Actor Found Dead in a Park
Known for his roles in “Australia” and Rabbit Proof Fence”, the three-time Australian Film Institute award winner, Ngoombujarra was found dead in a park in Perth.
One-time Academy Award host and Australian hunk actor, Hugh Jackman has joined others in expressing grief over the death of fellow Aussie star, David Ngoombujarra.
Known for his roles in “Australia” and Rabbit Proof Fence”, the three-time Australian Film Institute award winner, Ngoombujarra was found dead in a park in Perth.
Jackman, who co-starred with Australia’s one of the best-known indigenous actors conveyed his sadness over Starr whom he described as a friend.
“So saddened to hear about the passing of David Ngoombujarra Starr. An extraordinary man, actor and friend,” Jackman said, according to the Australian Associated Press.
“X-Men” Wolverine added: “His laugh, warmth, and humanity will live on with all who knew him.”
Other stars echoed Jackman as they paid tribute to the 44-year-old indigenous Aussie actor, according to WA Today.
Vanessa Murray: “You will be sadly missed on the big screen. Now you have a bigger chair waiting for you in the dreamtime.”
Nazaree Dickerson: “Miss you, uncle, we’ll be laying you to rest soon.”
Stephen John Swift III: “You have made your people proud .. and you will definitely be missed … A True Gentleman and True Australian.
According to the Australian Associated Press, Ngoombujarra was found lifeless in a park in Fremantle over the weekend. The actor from south of Perth was reportedly rushed to a nearby Fremantle hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities, said AAP still await for the toxicology report that will shed light to the actor’s untimely demise.
Ngoombujarra whose real name is David Bernard Starr was born in 1967 in Meekatharra, in the Midwestern part of West Australia.
Raised in Coolbellup, in Perth’s south, Ngoombujarra, a member of the Stolen Generation won 3 Australian Film Institute Awards for his roles in “Blackfellas”, “Black and White” and "The Circuit".
