Hugh Jackman can sign autographs and take pictures for fans, but shaving his beard is where he draws the line. An alleged stalker of the Academy Award nominee has been arrested after going after him and wanting to shave the actor's facial hair.

47-year-old Katherine Thurston was charged and arraigned with misdemeanour charges of menacing, stalking, harassment and trespassing, as well as with criminal possession of a weapon, namely an electric shaver, on Sunday in the Manhattan Criminal Court.

According to New York Daily News, Jackman was at the Gotham Gym on Washington St., New York, when Thurston pulled the razor out of a bag and charged after him. Her attack was fortunately foiled by the actor's personal trainer, Michael Castillo.

She was then taken out of the gym and arrested a few blocks away.

Explaining her unusual weapon of choice, Thurston said that she hated his whiskers.

But while she found Jackson's facial hair odious, she didn't find his marital status disheartening. According to the criminal complaint, the obsessed fan told NYPD Detective Frank Francisco that she wanted to marry Jackman, and that it's "not against the law to have two wives."

Jackman has been married to fellow actress and filmmaker Deborra-Lee Furness, a fellow Australian, since 1996. They have two adopted children together: 12-year-old Oscar Maximillian and 7-year-old Ava Eliot.

He told police that it wasn't the first time Thurston has bothered him. She apparently also showed up at his home and his daughter's school outside, telling his wife, "I'm going to marry your husband."

She was held on a $15,000 bail.
