In an interview with The Daily Beast, Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman describes "X-Men: Days of Future Past" as the most exciting of the series. The Australian actor also said that the film is three movies in one.

"It will be the biggest and the best of them all," said the actor who played the character of the adamantium-clawed mutant.

Although there is much excitement for "X-Men: Days of Future Past," it may be the last time that Wolverine appears in the franchise, according to reports.

Jackman reprised his Wolverine six times, but as detailed in the standalone film "The Wolverine," the character loses his ability to heal.

"Great parts always outgrow the actors that play them. If you forget that, it's at your own peril," Hugh Jackman said while at the San Sebastian film festival. He also added that he's been doing the "X-Men" part for 10 years.

Who is Wolverine?

Wolverine first appeared in "The Incredible Hulk" in 1974. He is popularly known as Logan in the films and in "X-Men" comic book lore. Born James Howlett, Wolverine possesses animal keen senses, is capable of self-healing and has adamantium claws. He is often associated with the "X-Men" but is also affiliated with "The Avengers."

Wolverine appeared as one of the many anti-heroes of Vietnam War era America and his characteristic willingness of using brutal force was the standard at the time.

Origin: The Wolverine

Born in the late 1880s, James Howlett grew up in a home of rich farm owner parents John and Elizabeth. However, the young boy was actually the groundskeeper's illegitimate son - the groundskeeper's name is Thomas Logan.

His biological father, Thomas Logan, is thrown off the Howlett property due to perpetrating violence but later returns to kill the man of the house.

In retaliation, the young Wolverine kills Thomas Logan with his claws - his mutations manifesting because of the provocation. His mother Elizabeth saw this and cast out James.

The New X-Men

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" brings together "X-Men: First Class" and other mutants. Bolivar Trask played by "Game of Thrones" actor Peter Dinklage is reportedly the main villain in the film. The new X-Men movie, "X-Men: Days of Future Past," will hit theatres on May 23, 2014.
