Yet, another gem from the acting industry has succumbed to an untimely death. "Hunger Games" actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who plays the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in the best selling fantasy trilogy was found dead in his Manhattan apartment, according to reports.

Friends decided to check up on the Oscar-award winning actor after he failed to pick up his children from longtime partner, Mimi O'Donell, a costume designer. The pair who went to check on him found the actor just in his underwear, with a needle till stuck in his arm. The police also found five empty glassine envelopes which was labeled as "Ace of Spade," a phased-out brand of heroin.

Hoffman is the recent celebrity to have succumbed to substance abuse. Late this year, Hoffman was seen during the Sundance Film Festival promoting his new film "God's Pocket" with a very "disheveled and pasty" looking appearance.

Hoffman was also busy taping for the third installment of the "Hunger Games," in which Lionsgate announced was close to being finished. According to the company, the demise of Hoffman shall not delay the release of the movie-which is set to be released on Nov. 21 2014 and Nov. 20 2015 respectively.
