Hunger Games: Catching Fire Actress Jennifer Lawrence Reveals She Was Treated For Anxiety Issues
"Hunger Games: Catching Fire" actress Jennifer Lawrence is much admired and looked up to actress in Hollywood. She is quite popular for her bold, realistic, down-to-earth and fun loving attitude in tinsel town. But she is no different from the ordinary people as she like any other child also suffered from anxiety issues. In a recent interview with "Madame Figaro" magazine she revealed that when she was young she was treated for anxiety issues.
The Oscar Winning actress revealed to the French magazine that she received medication and therapy for her social anxiety issues and hyperactivity. She bagged the spot at the French magazine's cover page in white and black bibbed dress. Alongside her anxiety-issues confession she also revealed that theatre classes helped her better than the therapy sessions.
"My nickname was "Nitro" as in nitroglycerin. I was hyperactive, curious about everything," revealed "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" star Jennifer Lawrence to Madame Figaro magazine.
"When my mother told me about my childhood, she always told me there was like a light in me, a spark that inspired me constantly. When I entered school, the light went out. We never knew what it was, a kind of social anxiety. But I had friends," added Jennifer Lawrence.
When she was young she took part in church plays which as she reported helped her better than therapy. She took acting as her career option as early as when she was 15.
"I went to see a shrink, nothing worked. One day, I begged my parents to take me to a casting, we went to New York and that's where I started acting. Just on stage, my mother saw the change that was taking place in me. She saw my anxieties disappear. She found her daughter, the one who had this light and joy before school" explained Jennifer Lawrence while talking about how therapy didn't help her.
"I finally found a way, open the door to a universe that I understood, that was good for me and made me happy, because I felt capable, whereas before I felt worthless," continued the actress.
All this may come as a surprise to fans of "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" actress Jennifer Lawrence, but it actually proves that she is just like any other ordinary person who overcame the social anxiety issues before making her name in the industry.
