'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire': Finnick Odair Contenders Down to Three
The highly-anticipated sequel to "The Hunger Games" might be set for a 2013 release but that hasn't stopped fans from naming their own dream cast.
One character from "Catching Fire" that has got a lot of fan girls is Finnick Odair. Rumor has it that casting choices for the District 4 tribute is down to only three actors: Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch and Garrett Hedlund. The question is: who should play the role as Finnick among them three?
Despite the whirlwind chaos of Gary Ross leaving out directing for "Catching Fire", Lionsgate has found the perfect replacement in Francis Lawrence. Lawrence is known for film works, "I Am Legend", "Water for Elephants" and "Constantine". Director Francis is also a famous name among music celebrities specifically Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez of whom he had directed music videos.
Now that the director's chair has been filled out, it's high time that the casting choices for the "Catching Fire" cast be up and ready.
A few vital characters in the book that require only the best actors and actresses in the industry are that of District 4's Finnick Odair and District 7's, Johanna Mason. While there is still no word on who might play the nihilistic victor from District 7, word is that the actors who could play the victor from District 4 has been finalized.
The contenders for the big role as Finnick are down to Armie Hammer of "The Social Network", Taylor Kitsch of "John Carter" and Garrett Hedlund of "On the Road".
Three impeccably good-looking men but looks aren't what fans are after. District 4's Finnick Odair has been described as an incredibly stunning man with awesome trident-wielding capabilities. Judging from the past films of the three contenders, who has the muscles and stamina for the likes to play Finnick?
Not one representative from the actors have given a statement about the news but a representative for Lionsgate did speak up on the casting rumors.
"As with the first film, we won't be confirming, denying or commenting on any casting rumors for this title. We will announce news wide when there is official casting news to announce," said Lionsgate representative.
For now, all fans can do is patiently wait for the final announcement from Director Francis Lawrence himself.
So who should play Finnick Odair: Armie Hammer, Garrett Hedlund or Taylor Kitsch?
