'Hunger Games' Film Turns Into a Television Series?
The highly-anticipated sequel to the "Hunger Games" is set for a November 2013 release.
The news of casting some coveted roles in the book, "Catching Fire", is already on hype. Now, it looks as if fans of Suzanne Collins best-selling post-apocalyptic novels have something else to look forward to apart from the film. News is a television version of "The Hunger Games" is set to hit home screens worldwide.
Say what? A lot of fans of Collins' novel would probably be in frenzy over the said news. Apart from wondering who would be directing the television series, the big question on everybody's mind is who would be playing Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark , Gale Hawthorn and everyone else on the TV version?
Casting would not be a problem given that Hollywood is home to a lot of talented actors. However, the true problem lies within the series itself. Wouldn't the TV series contradict or pose problems with the film version? Who had even thought of such preposterous idea? Well, fans can start looking up CW President, Mark Pedowitz.
Pedowitz is said to be in talks to adapt a "Hunger Games" and "Battle Royale" like TV series. Parents should start screening their televisions for series involving teens murdering teens.
"I really want a show that [has] a Game of Thrones-Hunger Games tone," explained Pedowitz, adding, "Right now it's just development talk. Battle Royale has a nice cult following."
With that said, readers and fans of both "Hunger Games" and "Battle Royale" would definitely have something to say - half of which might not be very great to hear. Given that the TV series is still under talks, film enthusiasts of "The Hunger Games" need not worry about the attention going from film to TV series.
For now, "The Hunger Games" sequel, "Catching Fire" is still missing a few lead casts. As of late, Philip Seymour Hoffman has signed on to the sequel as Plutarch Heavensbee, Jena Malone as Johanna Mason, and Amanda Plummer as Wiress. Rumored cast members include Melissa Leo as Mags and Tony Shaloub as Betee.
A coveted spot still left empty is that of Finnick Odair. Rumored actors being sought out for the role include Garrett Hedlund, Armie Hammer and Sam Claflin.
