Damon Salvatore is back with all his blood and vengeance. Ian Somerhalder, who plays the popular character of the blood sucking vampire in the hit television series "The Vampire Diaries," has shared the first ever picture from the set of the new season. The 35-year-old posted a really scary bloody picture with an equally dangerous smile on his Instagram profile.

"He's back! #DamonSalvatore," Ian captioned the picture where he shows off his fangs and has a weird expression. With blood dripping from his mouth towards his neck Ian looks very much engrossed in the role of the blood sucking vampire. Ian's picture has received more than 550k likes from his fans who are eagerly awaiting the return of the sixth season of "The Vampire Diaries" show.

By posting the picture on his Instagram account, Ian has also revealed a major spoiler for the next season. The picture proves that viewers will see more of Damon Salvatore and his end certainly doesn't stop at death. The season five showed Damon and Bonnie Bennett's (played by Kat Graham) sad demise and left their fans heartbroken. Fans feared that they will not be able to see their favorite characters in the next season. However, the latest picture posted by Ian is proof that he is returning to the show and is going to be very much alive as Damon. It is not clear how and in which context will the characters be brought back to life.

At the last month's Comic-Con 2014, Ian and Graham got together and made a hilarious video spoofing their death. Check out the video below.

Ian was also in news recently as he was spotted with "Twilight" actress Nikki Reed. The couple spent some time together jogging and shopping in the market. The two were also present at the recent Teen Choice Awards but both did not get photographed together. Ian seems to be having a great time with Nikki as he told an interviewer recently that he couldn't have been happier in life as he is now.

"Life is good," the actor revealed to E! News at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmys. "There's a lot of support and love from a lot of people. I couldn't be happier if I tried."
