Ian Somerhalder, the star of the hit TV shows like "Lost" and "The Vampire Diaries," was trending on twitter. There was little surprise there as there has been a lot of talk about the People's Choice Awards, in which he was nominated and the Teen Choice Awards in which he won the choice TV Actor. But the actor said in a tweet he was not sure why he had become a hot topic for discussion on twitter.

"Not exactly sure why I would be on this list trending worldwide right now on Twitter but you guys rock!At least I'm on it with my friend @msleamichele ;)" tweeted Ian.

Ian fans wasted no time in showering him with praise perhaps that was what he was looking for? The fans for their part expressed their affection for the star with many young women saying how much they love the star, on Instagram.

There was one skeptic who wondered if this really was the authentic account of Ian Somerhalder, but he was quickly reassured by another fan. Many of the fans said they love him and how amazing he was.

There were some funny and weird messages as well with one just saying "notice me" and another fan after seeing all the complimentary messages simply said "You see... The world loves you:D."

Not all the fans were there paying compliments though, one fan had a request regarding the south Korean dog market, "If you can do something to stop the South Korean dog market please @iansomerhalder I don't even know if u are gonna see this but ur organisation can do something about it!!!" said the fan.

The TV star is all set to join the big screen in Hollywood next year in the film "The Anomaly." He will be joined by Luke Hemsworth and Alexis Knapp in the cast of the movie.

The movie is about a former soldier who is captured and put in the back of a van where he wakes up and has only a few moments to find out how he got there. Reported IMDB.
