Actor Ian Somerhalder has been posting some cryptic messages on Twitter about loneliness and memories. It was immediately interpreted that the Vampire Diaries heartthrob actor could be missing his ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev.

Ian's recent Twitter messages appear to be a far cry from his usual happy tweets. "Aloneness is a state of being, whereas loneliness is a state of feeling. It's like the difference between being broke and being poor," Ian posted sounding serious on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder.

In another tweet, the 34-year-old actor was talking about filming for the fifth season of successful TV series. The message reads: "Wrapped-crazy to be back on these stages in Georgia. Wow, so many memories here. Season 5-this show has lasted more than most Marriages."

Ex-couple Ian and Nina are now back together working on the Vampire Diaries set in Atlanta. The two reprises their roles of Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore for the show's Season 5 scheduled to air on October 10.

According to The Examiner report, Ian and Nina have been dealing with each other pleasantly on the set. An insider even revealed to CelebDirtyLaundry that the former lovers are focusing with work and doing their best to be professional despite the breakup.

"Nina and Ian are back in touch after several months spent apart. But sparks aren't flying. It just means that they are doing everything possible to keep things as least awkward as possible," the insider shared.

At the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con, Ian and Nina are expected to make appearances together sans the awkward atmosphere with the other Vampire Diaries cast members like Paul Wesley, Candice Accola and Kat Graham. Audience that will be present at The Originals panel will see as well some of the spin-off's cast members like Joseph Morgan, Claire Holt and Phoebe Tonkin.
