Actor Ian Somerhalder recently expressed on social media sites Twitter and Instagram his admiration and support for the Cosmopolitan cover of "Vampire Diaries" co-star and ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev. The pair may have ended their relationship, but Ian's sweet and thoughtful post only proves that all is well and they split up in good terms with each other.

"In a store this morning-who do I see?The one&only@ninadobrev These things are almost gone so If you haven't gotten this magazine off of a shelf-get one. One word: Stunning... Congrats Nina! Xo Ian," the 34-year-old heartthrob actor wrote on his Twitter account with an Instagram photo attached. The image shows that Mr Somerhalder captured Nina Dobrev's Cosmo cover on a newsstand.

Ian Somerhalder did not only praise and congratualte Nina Dobrev with her stunning look at the magazine's cover. The "Vampire Diaries" star even encouraged his fans to immediately grab a copy before it is sold out.

Nina Dobrev showed her support on Twitter as well for Ian Somerhalder who posted a Tweet about his girl Nietzsche. The 24-year-old Canadian beauty wrote "Awww poor little Nietzsche ... Goodluck kiddo! @iansomerhalder" as a response to Ian's Twitter message that reads: "Pls send some positive vibes for my little girl, Nietzsche who goes under the knife to be Spayed in a few minutes!STOP OVERPOPULATION-SPAY AND NEUTER Thank you!"

It is nice to know that Ian and Nina are still good friends and very supportive with each other despite the much publicized break up. However, the "Vampire Diaries" fans would be more pleased if the ex-couple rekindles their romantic relationship.

Nina Dobrev looked really stunning on the September 2013 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine so it was just apt for Ian to use the word in describing his ex. In the magazine issue, Ms Dobrev opened up about yoga and how it changed her life, her plans of opening her own yoga studio and even her breakup with Ian Somerhalder.

The actress explained that the split was amicable and it was about "finding out what meshes and what doesn't." Ms Dobrev reunites onscreen with Ian Somerhalder as couple Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore for the upcoming "Vampire Diaries" Season 5 which is scheduled to premiere on October 3 at the CW TV network.
