Ian, 35, who also won the "Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor" award, expressed on Twitter his gratitude to the supportive fans who voted.

"This is incredible. This is for the fans, I can't thank you guys enough," stated the actor as he accepted the TV Actor award, according to the Hollywood Life report.

On Twitter, Mr Somerhalder offered as well his 2014 People's Choice Awards victory to the equally hard-working TVD crew. "Love you all... Ian and Nina's acceptance speech covered the love story of Damon and Elena on the show together with their real-life romantic relationship.
